Mission Statement:

Vietnam Veterans of 2nd Bn., 1st. Reg., 1st Marine Division, Inc. is a non-profit, non-political, fraternal association of Vietnam veterans who served in 2/1 from 1965 to 1975. Membership is open to all Marines who served during that era without regard to race or gender.

The Primary purpose of the Association is to assist members of the battalion, including next of kin, and to educate the general public about the actions and accomplishments of the battalion and its members.

Our organization also embraces all Navy personnel who served with the Battalion during the Vietnam War. Especially Hospital Corpsmen, who saved so many lives and gave aid and succor to countless wounded warriors. Corpsmen will always hold a special place in the heart of all Marines. Their courage under fire and their dedication to healing have earned them the honor of being brother Marines.

The organization will exist to educate the general public on the true conduct of a war that tested our country's ability to hold together. We will provide true and accurate depictions of events and experiences from the perspective of the fighting man....not the Generals, not the Politicians, not the decision-makers.

Our organization will foster camaraderie and good will through a database of members who may gain access to names and addresses (through a contact person) of the men and women they served with in Vietnam.  We will be a link between our KIA's and the families they left behind.

We will sponsor periodic gatherings in our Nation's capital and other locations throughout the country to see and talk with old comrades who still have a need to just "hash it out."

Finally, our organization will keep alive the Esprit De Corps of the premier military unit in the History of Man... The United States Marine Corps.
