The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the
BRONZE STAR MEDAL to
PRIVATE FIRST CLASS DANIEL L. BOHN
UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS
For service as set forth in the following
CITATION
"For meritorious service in connection with operations against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam while serving as a Rifleman with Company H, Second Battalion, First Marines, First Marine Division from 16 March to 11 April 1969.Throughout this period, Private First Class Bohn performed his duties in an exemplary and highly professional manner. Displaying exceptional initiative and resourcefulness, he expeditiously accomplished all assigned tasks and consistently provided his unit with outstanding support. Exhibiting an aggressive fighting spirit, he unhesitatingly exploited each hostile contact to the maximum, skillfully maneuvering to effective fighting positions from which to inflict numerous casualties upon enemy forces. On 11 April 1969, while participating in a squad-size patrol, he was seriously wounded by the detonation of an enemy explosive device. Despite his painful injuries, he resolutely maintained a calm presence of mind and was a constant source of inspiration to his companions until he was medically evacuated. Private First Class Bohn's professionalism, determined initiative and unwavering devotion to duty contributed significantly to the accomplishment of his unit's mission and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and of the United States Naval Service."
